Inspired by the collaborative nature of ancient Roman Plebeian communities, Plēb Urban Winery seeks to bring together the farmers, winemakers, chefs, artists and customers that make each glass of their wine possible. The three founders, Lauren Turpin, Chris Denesha and Lee Turpin, met by chance and quickly realized they all nurtured similar dreams for starting a winery in North Carolina, and quickly got to work making this dream a reality. Their wines incorporate a rich variety of wine grapes from famous wine growing regions of the world in the unique environment of the Appalachian Mountains, some of which they grow on their own farm. Their philosophy of minimal intervention wine making creates wines that showcase the natural qualities of the grapes they use to the fullest extent possible.
